The Ramrao Adik Education Society(RAES) was established in 1983 by Founder-President and Chancellor,Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil, with the noble objective of promoting education at all levels in all fields, viz, schools, colleges, vidyapiths, balmandirs, study centers, technical institutions and colleges, research center , universities etc. The society was set up to encourage educational endeavors through endowments, scholarships, prizes and loans. The Society was also formed with a view to help the poor and the needy to fulfill their educational requirements. The Society also believes, more specifically, in the objective of promoting better understanding and appreciation of the technique of engineering practice. The society actively works towards the fulfillment of the objectives of assisting education and research in engineering; also disseminating of knowledge and learning in all the branches of engineering.
 
The society also has certain objectives in the field of Medical Education and its use. It believes in disbursing grants and donations to hospitals, dispensaries, maternity homes, sanatoriums, research centers, laboratories, museums, study centers medical colleges and institutions imparting medical knowledge or providing medical relief.
 
The society also helps the poor and the needy with medical assistance during the time of epidemics, famines, floods, earthquakes or unforeseen calamities and wars. The society also believes in the creation, maintenance and providing of support to gardens, gymnasiums, physical training centers, cultural centers and other means of public recreation and for the advancement of health and hygiene.
 
The society also has the objective of undertaking rural development to benefit the people. This is done through the setting up of institutions in the rural areas, and also by undertaking activities that will benefit the health and education of the people.
